Great turnout at Autism Partnership Conference
Parents and helping professionals have been searching for effective interventions for autism. To provide more information for industry professionals, teachers and parents on this matter, a conference, on “How to apply effective treatment models for children with autism” was jointly organized with the Hong Kong Institution of Education on May 8, 2015. The conference, with an objective to bring latest insights from academic and practical perspectives to the industry, had attracted over 140 participants from academic institutions, industry organizations, schools and families. To start the conference, Dr. Mitchell Taubman addressed two topics, “Conceptualizing Social Skills Curriculum” and “Teaching Interactions versus Social Stories” which set the stage for the various topical presentations of the day.
Following the keynote presentations, Ms. Yvonne Cheung, Case Supervisor of AP School, presented some practical and effective approaches being applied in Hong Kong school settings. In the afternoon sessions, we had three prominent speakers from the Hong Kong Institution of Education who spoke about approaches being adopted for teaching and treating children with autism. The conference was wrapped up with the presentation by Mr. Raymond Fung, Behavior Consultant of Autism Partnership on “Effective Apps for Autism”.
Beside the eye-opening presentation, we also enjoyed the interactive gathering with each other during the coffee breaks and the tour to our Center. We look forward to our next conference in November so please stay tune for latest updates.
