A Work in Progress – Kimi Behavior Problem – Looking Away (Eye Token)

For some children on the autism spectrum, making eye contact can be a difficult, distracting and sensory-taxing experience. For Kimi, he has trouble focusing his eyes on our therapist, Ivy. During lessons, he could answer Ivy’s questions and followed her request well, but his eyes kept surfing and around looking else where. This become problematic when doing language tasks.

To maintain Kimi’s eye contact on Ivy during our language training, we apply “Eye Token”. Let’s see how we do it! Note: This is not a general attention program, the function of this eye token program is to teach Kimi how to focus spontaneously on Ivy’s face and mouth for better articulation.
